A Song of Ascents, of David.
1 O Lord, my heart is not aproud, nor my eyes 1bhaughty;
Nor do I 2involve myself in cgreat matters,
Or in things dtoo 3difficult for me.
2 Surely I have acomposed and quieted my soul;
Like a weaned bchild rests 1against his mother,
My soul is like a weaned child 1within me.
3 O Israel, ahope in the Lord
bFrom this time forth and forever.
Prayer for the Lord’s Blessing upon the Sanctuary.
A Song of Ascents.
1 Remember, O Lord, on David’s behalf,
All ahis affliction;
And vowed to athe Mighty One of Jacob,
3 “Surely I will not 1enter amy house,
Nor 2lie on my bed;
4 I will not agive sleep to my eyes
Or slumber to my eyelids,
5 Until I find a aplace for the Lord,
1A dwelling place for bthe Mighty One of Jacob.”
6 Behold, we heard of it in aEphrathah,
We found it in the bfield of 1Jaar.
7 Let us go into His 1adwelling place;
Let us bworship at His cfootstool.
8 aArise, O Lord, to Your bresting place,
You and the ark of Your cstrength.
9 Let Your priests be aclothed with righteousness,
And let Your bgodly ones sing for joy.
10 For the sake of David Your servant,
Do not turn away the face of Your aanointed.
11 The Lord has asworn to David
A truth from which He will not turn back:
“bOf the fruit of your body I will set upon your throne.
12 “If your sons will keep My covenant
And My testimony which I will teach them,
Their sons also shall asit upon your throne forever.”
13 For the Lord has achosen Zion;
He has bdesired it for His habitation.
14 “This is My aresting place forever;
Here I will bdwell, for I have desired it.
15 “I will abundantly abless her provision;
I will bsatisfy her needy with bread.
16 “Her apriests also I will clothe with salvation,
And her agodly ones will sing aloud for joy.
17 “There I will cause the ahorn of David to spring forth;
I have prepared a blamp for Mine anointed.
18 “His enemies I will aclothe with shame,
But upon himself his bcrown shall shine.”
The Excellency of Brotherly Unity.
A Song of Ascents, of David.
1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
For abrothers to dwell together in unity!
2 It is like the precious aoil upon the head,
Coming down upon the beard,
Even Aaron’s beard,
Coming down upon the bedge of his robes.
3 It is like the adew of bHermon
Coming down upon the cmountains of Zion;
Praise the Lord’s Wonderful Works. Vanity of Idols.
Praise the name of the Lord;
Praise Him, O bservants of the Lord,
2 You who stand in the house of the Lord,
In the acourts of the house of our God!
3 1Praise 2the Lord, for athe Lord is good;
bSing praises to His name, cfor it is lovely.
4 For 1the Lord has achosen Jacob for Himself,
Israel for His 2bown possession.
5 For I know that athe Lord is great
And that our Lord is babove all gods.
6 aWhatever the Lord pleases, He does,
In heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deeps.
7 1He acauses the 2vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth;
Who bmakes lightnings for the rain,
Who abrings forth the wind from His treasuries.
8 1He asmote the firstborn of Egypt,
2Both of man and beast.
9 1He sent asigns and wonders into your midst, O Egypt,
Upon bPharaoh and all his servants.
And slew mighty kings,
11 aSihon, king of the Amorites,
And bOg, king of Bashan,
And call the kingdoms of Canaan;
12 And He agave their land as a heritage,
A heritage to Israel His people.
13 Your aname, O Lord, is everlasting,
Your 1remembrance, O Lord, 2throughout all generations.
14 For the Lord will ajudge His people
And bwill have compassion on His servants.
15 The aidols of the nations are but silver and gold,
The work of man’s hands.
16 They have mouths, but they do not speak;
They have eyes, but they do not see;
17 They have ears, but they do not hear,
Nor is there any breath at all in their mouths.
18 Those who make them will be like them,
Yes, everyone who trusts in them.
19 O house of aIsrael, bless the Lord;
O house of Aaron, bless the Lord;
20 O house of Levi, bless the Lord;
You awho 1revere the Lord, bless the Lord.
21 Blessed be the Lord afrom Zion,
Who bdwells in Jerusalem.

About New American Standard Bible (1995)The New American Standard Bible, long considered a favorite study Bible by serious students of the Scriptures, has been completely revised and updated in this new 1995 translation. Preserving the Lockman Foundation's standard of creating a literal translation of the original Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic manuscripts, the 1995 NASB provides a literal translation that is very readable. Formalized language and outdated words and phrases have been replaced with their contemporary counterparts. In short, the 1995 NASB is a Bible translation that is very conducive to word-by-word study and is also able to be read (and understood) by the whole family. |
