A Call to Praise the Lord for His Righteousness.
A Psalm.
1 O sing to the Lord a anew song,
For He has done bwonderful things,
His cright hand and His dholy arm have 1gained the victory for Him.
2 aThe Lord has made known His salvation;
He has brevealed His 1righteousness in the sight of the nations.
3 He has aremembered His lovingkindness and His faithfulness to the house of Israel;
bAll the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
4 aShout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth;
bBreak forth and sing for joy and sing praises.
5 Sing praises to the Lord with the alyre,
With the lyre and the 1bsound of melody.
6 With atrumpets and the sound of the horn
bShout joyfully before cthe King, the Lord.
7 Let the asea roar and 1all it contains,
The bworld and those who dwell in it.
8 Let the arivers clap their hands,
Let the bmountains sing together for joy
9 Before the Lord, for He is coming to ajudge the earth;
He will judge the world with righteousness
Praise to the Lord for His Fidelity to Israel.
1 aThe Lord reigns, let the peoples tremble;
He 1bis enthroned above the cherubim, let the earth shake!
2 The Lord 1is agreat in Zion,
And He is bexalted above all the peoples.
3 Let them praise Your agreat and awesome name;
4 The 1strength of the King aloves 2justice;
You have established 3bequity;
You have cexecuted 2justice and righteousness in Jacob.
And bworship at His footstool;
cHoly is He.
6 aMoses and Aaron were among His bpriests,
And aSamuel was among those who ccalled on His name;
They dcalled upon the Lord and He answered them.
7 He aspoke to them in the pillar of cloud;
They bkept His testimonies
And the statute that He gave them.
8 O Lord our God, You aanswered them;
You were a bforgiving God to them,
And yet an cavenger of their evil deeds.
And worship at His holy hill,
For holy is the Lord our God.
All Men Exhorted to Praise God.
A Psalm for †Thanksgiving.
1 aShout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth.
2 aServe the Lord with gladness;
bCome before Him with joyful singing.
3 Know that athe Lord 1Himself is God;
It is He who has bmade us, and 2not we ourselves;
We are cHis people and the sheep of His pasture.
4 Enter His gates awith 1thanksgiving
And His courts with praise.
Give thanks to Him, bbless His name.
5 For athe Lord is good;
bHis lovingkindness is everlasting
And His cfaithfulness to all generations.
The Psalmist’s Profession of Uprightness.
A Psalm of David.
1 I will asing of lovingkindness and 1justice,
To You, O Lord, I will sing praises.
2 I will 1agive heed to the 2blameless way.
When will You come to me?
I will walk within my house in the 3bintegrity of my heart.
3 I will set no aworthless thing before my eyes;
I hate the 1work of those who bfall away;
It shall not fasten its grip on me.
4 A aperverse heart shall depart from me;
I will know no evil.
5 Whoever secretly aslanders his neighbor, him I will 1destroy;
No one who has a bhaughty look and an arrogant heart will I endure.
6 My eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me;
He who walks in a 1ablameless way is the one who will minister to me.
7 He who apractices deceit shall not dwell within my house;
He who speaks falsehood bshall not 1maintain his position before me.
8 aEvery morning I will 1bdestroy all the wicked of the land,
So as to ccut off from the dcity of the Lord all those who do iniquity.
Prayer of an Afflicted Man for Mercy on Himself and on Zion.
A Prayer of the Afflicted when he is faint and †pours out his complaint before the Lord.
1 aHear my prayer, O Lord!
And let my cry for help bcome to You.
2 aDo not hide Your face from me in the day of my distress;
bIncline Your ear to me;
In the day when I call aanswer me quickly.
3 For my days ahave been 1consumed in smoke,
And my bbones have been scorched like a hearth.
4 My heart ahas been smitten like 1grass and has bwithered away,
Indeed, I cforget to eat my bread.
5 Because of the 1loudness of my groaning
6 I 1resemble a apelican of the wilderness;
I have become like an owl of the waste places.
7 I alie awake,
I have become like a lonely bird on a housetop.
8 My enemies ahave reproached me all day long;
Those who 1bderide me 2have used my name as a ccurse.
9 For I have eaten ashes like bread
And amingled my drink with weeping
10 aBecause of Your indignation and Your wrath,
For You have blifted me up and cast me away.
11 My days are like a 1alengthened shadow,
And 2I bwither away like 3grass.
12 But You, O Lord, 1aabide forever,
And Your 2bname to all generations.
13 You will aarise and have bcompassion on Zion;
For cit is time to be gracious to her,
For the dappointed time has come.
14 Surely Your servants 1find pleasure in her stones
And feel pity for her dust.
15 1So the 2anations will fear the name of the Lord
And ball the kings of the earth Your glory.
16 For the Lord has abuilt up Zion;
He has bappeared in His glory.
17 He has aregarded the prayer of the 1destitute
And has not despised their prayer.
18 1This will be awritten for the bgeneration to come,
2That ca people yet to be created 3may praise 4the Lord.
19 For He alooked down from His holy height;
bFrom heaven the Lord gazed 1upon the earth,
20 To hear the agroaning of the prisoner,
To bset free 1those who were doomed to death,
21 That men may atell of the name of the Lord in Zion
And His praise in Jerusalem,
22 When athe peoples are gathered together,
And the kingdoms, to serve the Lord.
23 He has weakened my strength in the way;
He has ashortened my days.
24 I say, “O my God, ado not take me away in the 1midst of my days,
Your byears are throughout all generations.
25 “Of old You afounded the earth,
And the bheavens are the work of Your hands.
26 “1Even they will aperish, but You endure;
And all of them will wear out like a garment;
Like clothing You will change them and they will be changed.
And Your years will not come to an end.
28 “The achildren of Your servants will continue,
