A Psalm ||of Asaph.
1 aGod bstandeth in the congregation of the mighty;
2 eHow long will ye judge unjustly,
And fgaccept the persons gof the wicked? Selah.
3 †Defend the hpoor and ifatherless:
iDo justice to the afflicted and needy.
4 kDeliver the hpoor and needy:
lRid them out of the hand of the wicked.
5 mThey know not, neither will they understand;
nThey walk on in darkness:
oAll the foundations of the earth are †out of course.
And all of you are rchildren of the most High.
7 But sye shall die tlike men,
And fall like one of the princes.
8 uArise, O God, judge the earth:
xFor thou shalt inherit all nations.
1 aKeep not thou silence, O God:
bHold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.
2 For, lo, thine enemies cmake a tumult:
And they that dhate thee have elifted up the head.
3 fThey have taken crafty counsel against thy people,
And consulted against gthy hidden ones.
4 They have said, Come, and let us hcut them off ifrom being a nation;
That the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
5 For they have kconsulted together with one †consent:
They lare confederate against thee:
6 The tabernacles of mEdom, and the nIshmaelites;
7 psGebal, and mAmmon, and qAmalek;
The rPhilistines with the inhabitants of sTyre;
8 stAssur also is joined with them:
†They have uholpen xthe children of Lot. Selah.
9 Do unto them as unto the yMidianites;
As to zSisera, as to Jabin, at athe brook of Kison:
10 Which perished at bEn-dor:
They became cas dung for the earth.
11 Make their nobles like dOreb, and like dZeeb:
Yea, all their eprinces as fZebah, and as fZalmunna:
12 Who said, gLet us take to ourselves
The hhouses of God in possession.
13 O my God, make them ilike a wheel;
kAs the stubble ipbefore the wind.
14 lAs the fire burneth a wood,
And as the flame msetteth the mountains on fire;
15 So ipersecute them nwith thy otempest,
And make them afraid with thy ipstorm.
16 qFill their faces with shame;
That they may seek thy name, O Lord.
17 Let them be rconfounded and troubled for ever;
Yea, let them be rput to shame, and perish:
18 That men smay know that thou, twhose name ualone is JEHOVAH,
Art wthe most high over all the earth.
To the chief Musician *upon Gittith, A Psalm ||for the sons of Korah.
1 *How aamiable are bthy tabernacles, O Lord of hosts!
2 cMy soul longeth, yea, even dfainteth for ethe courts of the Lord:
My heart and my flesh crieth out for fthe living God.
3 Yea, the gsparrow hath found an house,
And the gswallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young,
Even thine altars, O Lord of hosts, hmy King, and my God.
4 iBlessed are they that dwell in thy house:
They kwill be still praising thee. Selah.
5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee;
In whose heart are lthe ways of them.
6 Who passing through the valley ||of Baca make it a well;
The mrain also †nfilleth the pools.
7 They go ||ofrom strength to strength,
Every one of them in Zion pappeareth before God.
8 qO Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer:
Give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah.
And look upon the face of tthine anointed.
10 For a day in ethy courts is better than a thousand.
†I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God,
Than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
11 For the Lord God is ua sun and sshield:
The Lord will give grace and glory:
xNo good thing will he withhold from them that ywalk uprightly.
zBlessed is the man that trusteth in thee.
To the chief Musician, A Psalm ||for the sons of Korah.
1 Lord, thou hast been ||Favourable unto thy land:
Thou hast abrought back the captivity of Jacob.
2 Thou hast bforgiven the iniquity of thy people,
Thou hast bcovered all their sin. Selah.
3 Thou hast taken away all thy wrath:
||Thou hast cturned dthyself from the fierceness of thine anger.
4 eTurn us, O God of our salvation,
fAnd cause thine anger toward us to cease.
5 gWilt thou be angry with us for ever?
Wilt thou hdraw out thine anger to all generations?
6 Wilt thou not irevive us again:
That jthy people may rejoice in thee?
And grant us thy salvation.
8 kI will hear what God the Lord will speak:
For lhe will speak peace unto his people, and to mhis saints:
But let them not nturn again to ofolly.
9 Surely phis salvation is nigh them that fear him;
That qglory may dwell in our land.
10 rMercy and truth rrare met together;
sRighteousness and stpeace have kissed each other.
11 Truth shall uspring out of the earth;
And urighteousness shall look down from heaven.
12 Yea, xthe Lord shall give that which is good;
And your land shall yield her increase.
13 zRighteousness shall go before him;
And shall set us in the way of his steps.
||A Prayer of David.
1 aBow down thine ear, O Lord, hear me:
For bI am poor and needy.
2 Preserve my soul; for I am ||holy:
O thou my God, save thy servant cthat trusteth in thee.
3 dBe merciful unto me, O Lord:
4 Rejoice the soul of thy servant:
For funto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.
5 For thou, Lord, art good, and ffready to forgive;
And gplenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.
6 hGive ear, O Lord, unto my prayer;
And hiattend to the voice of my supplications.
7 jIn the day of my trouble I will call upon thee:
kFor thou wilt answer me.
8 lAmong the gods there is none like unto thee, O Lord;
Neither are there any works mlike unto thy works.
9 All nations whom thou hast made nshall come
And oworship before thee, O Lord;
And shall glorify thy name.
10 For thou art pgreat, and qdoest wondrous things:
rThou art God alone.
11 sTeach me thy way, O Lord; tI will walk in thy truth:
Unite my heart to fear thy name.
12 I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart:
And I will glorify thy name for evermore.
13 For great is thy mercy toward me:
And thou hast udelivered my soul from vthe lowest ||hell.
14 O God, wthe proud are risen against me,
And the assemblies of †violent men have sought after my soul;
And have not set thee before them.
15 xBut thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious,
Longsuffering, and gplenteous in mercy and truth.
16 O yturn unto me, and dhave mercy upon me;
Give thy strength unto zthy servant,
And save zthe son of thine handmaid.
17 aShew me a token bfor good;
That they which hate me may see it, and be ashamed:
Because thou, Lord, hast cholpen me, and comforted me.
