*A *Psalm and Song †at the dedication of the house of David.
1 aI will extol thee, O Lord; for thou hast lifted me up,
And hast aanot made my foes to rejoice over me.
2 O Lord my God, bI cried unto thee, and thou hast bbhealed me.
3 O Lord, cthou hast brought up my soul from dthe grave:
Thou hast kept me alive, that I should not ego down to the pit.
4 Sing unto the Lord, O ye fsaints of his,
And give thanks ||at the remembrance of his holiness.
5 For g†his anger endureth but a moment; hin his favour is life:
iWeeping may endure †for a night, but †joy cometh jin the morning.
6 And kin my prosperity I said,
lI shall never be moved.
7 Lord, by thy favour thou hast †made my mountain to stand strong:
mThou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled.
And mmunto the Lord I made supplication.
9 What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit?
nShall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?
10 oHear, O Lord, and have mercy upon me:
Lord, be thou my helper.
11 Thou hast turned for me my mourning pinto dancing:
Thou hast put off my qsackcloth, and girded me with gladness;
12 To the end that ||my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.
To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.
1 aIn thee, O Lord, do I put my trust;
aLet me never be ashamed:
bDeliver me in thy righteousness.
2 cBow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily:
Be thou †my strong rock,
For an house of ddefence to save me.
3 dFor thou art my rock and my fortress;
Therefore efor thy name’s sake flead me, and gguide me.
4 hPull me out of the inet that they have laid privily for me:
For iithou art my strength.
5 jInto thine hand I commit my spirit:
Thou hast redeemed me, O Lord kGod of truth.
6 lI have hated them that mregard lying vanities:
But nI trust in the Lord.
7 I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy:
For thou hast considered my trouble;
Thou hast oknown my soul in adversities;
8 And hast not pshut me up into the hand of the enemy:
Thou hast set my feet qin a large room.
9 rHave mercy upon me, O Lord, for rrI am in trouble:
sMine eye is consumed with grief, yea, my soul and my belly.
10 For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing:
My strength faileth because of mine tiniquity, and umy bones are consumed.
11 I was a reproach among all mine enemies,
But wespecially among my neighbours, and a fear to mine xacquaintance:
yThey that did see me without fled from me.
12 I zam forgotten as a dead man out of mind:
I am like †a broken vessel.
13 aFor I have heard the slander of many:
While they took counsel together against me,
They devised to take away my life.
14 But cI trusted in thee, O Lord:
I said, Thou art my God.
15 dMy times are in thy hand:
eDeliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and efrom them that persecute me.
16 fMake thy face to shine upon thy servant:
Save me for thy mercies’ sake.
17 gLet me not be ashamed, O Lord; for I have called upon thee:
Let the wicked be ashamed, and h||let them be silent in the grave.
18 Let the lying lips be put to silence;
Which speak †grievous things iproudly and contemptuously against the righteous.
19 Oh how great is thy goodness, kwhich thou hast laid up for them that fear thee;
Which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee
lBefore the sons of men!
20 Thou shalt hide them in mthe secret of thy presence from the pride of man:
Thou shalt nokeep them secretly in a pavilion from othe strife of tongues.
21 Blessed be the Lord: for phe hath shewed me his marvellous kindness in a ||strong city.
22 For qI said in my haste, rI am cut off sfrom before thine eyes:
Nevertheless thou heardest ssthe voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee.
23 O love the Lord, all ye his tsaints:
For the Lord preserveth the faithful,
And plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.
24 uBe of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart,
All ye that xhope in the Lord.
||A Psalm of David, Maschil.
1 aBlessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
2 Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord bimputeth not iniquity,
And cin whose spirit there is no guile.
3 When I kept silence, dmy bones waxed old
Through my eroaring all the day long.
4 For day and night thy fhand was heavy upon me:
My gmoisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.
5 I hacknowledged my sin unto thee,
And mine iniquity have I not hid.
iI said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord;
And thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.
6 For this shall every one that is iigodly pray unto thee j†in a time when thou mayest be found:
Surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.
7 Thou art my khiding place; thou shalt preserve me lfrom trouble;
Thou shalt compass me about with msongs of deliverance. Selah.
8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go:
†I will guide thee with mine eye.
9 nBe ye not as the horse,
Or as the mule, which have no understanding:
oWhose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle,
Lest they come near unto thee.
10 pMany sorrows shall be to the wicked:
But qhe that trusteth in the Lord, mercy shall compass him about.
11 rBe glad in the Lord, and rejoice, ye righteous:
