To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.
1 The king shall joy in thy strength, O Lord;
And ain thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!
2 bThou hast given him his heart’s desire,
And hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.
3 For thou cpreventest him with the blessings of goodness:
Thou dsettest a crown of epure gold on his head.
4 He asked life of thee, and fthou gavest it him,
Even glength of days for ever and ever.
5 His hglory is great in thy salvation:
iHonour and himajesty hast thou jlaid upon him.
6 For thou hast †made him most blessed for ever:
kThou hast †made him exceeding glad with thy countenance.
7 For the king trusteth in the Lord,
And through the mercy of the most High lhe shall not be moved.
8 Thine hand shall mfind out all thine enemies:
Thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee.
9 Thou shalt make them nas a fiery oven in the time of thine oanger:
The Lord shall pswallow them up in his wrath, and qthe fire shall devour them.
10 rTheir fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth,
And their seed from among the children of men.
11 For they intended evil against thee:
sThey imagined a mischievous device, which they are not able to perform.
12 Therefore ||shalt thou make them turn their †back,
When thou shalt tmake ready thine arrows upon thy strings against the face of them.
13 Be thou exalted, Lord, in thine own strength:
So will we sing and praise thy power.
To the chief Musician upon ||Aijeleth Shahar, A Psalm of David.
1 aMy God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
Why art thou so far †from helping me, and from the words of bmy roaring?
2 O my God, I cry bbin the daytime, but thou hearest not;
And in the night season, and †am not silent.
3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the cpraises of Israel.
4 Our fathers trusted in thee:
They trusted, and thou didst deliver them.
5 They dcried unto thee, and were delivered:
eThey trusted in thee, and were not confounded.
6 But I am fa worm, and no man;
A ffreproach of men, and gdespised of the people.
7 hAll they that see me laugh me to scorn:
They †shoot out the lip, ithey shake the head, saying,
8 j†He trusted on the Lord that khe would deliver him:
Let him deliver him, ||seeing he ldelighted in him.
9 But thou art he that mntook me out of the womb:
Thou ||didst make me hope when I was upon my mother’s breasts.
10 I was ncast upon thee from the womb:
Thou art my God ofrom my mother’s belly.
11 Be not far from me; for trouble is near;
For there is †none to help.
12 Many bulls have compassed me:
pStrong qbulls of Bashan have rbeset me round.
13 sThey †gaped upon me with their mouths,
As a ravening and a roaring lion.
14 I am sspoured out like water,
And all my bones are ||out of joint:
It is tmelted in the midst of my bowels.
15 My strength is xdried up like a potsherd;
And ymy tongue cleaveth to my jaws;
And thou hast brought me into the dust of death.
16 For zdogs have compassed me:
The assembly of the wicked have zzinclosed me:
aThey pierced my hands and my feet.
bThey look and stare upon me.
18 cThey part my garments among them,
And cast lots upon my vesture.
19 But be not thou far dfrom me, O Lord:
O my strength, haste thee to help me.
20 Deliver my soul from the sword;
†My darling †from the power of the edog.
21 fSave me from the lion’s mouth:
For thou hast gheard me from the horns of hthe unicorns.
22 iI will declare thy name unto jmy brethren:
In the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.
23 kYe that fear the Lord, praise him;
All ye the seed of Jacob, lglorify him;
And fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.
24 For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted;
Neither hath he hid his face from him;
But mwhen he cried unto him, he heard.
25 My praise shall be of thee nin the great congregation:
oI will pay my vows before them that fear him.
26 pThe meek shall eat and be satisfied:
They shall praise the Lord that seek him:
qYour heart shall rlive for ever.
27 sAll the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the Lord:
And all the tkindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.
28 uFor the kingdom is the Lord’s:
And he is the governor among the nations.
29 All they that be vfat upon earth shall eat and worship:
All they that go down to the dust shall wbow before him:
And none can keep alive his own soul.
xIt shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.
31 yThey shall come, and shall declare his righteousness
zUnto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.
1 The Lord is amy shepherd; bI shall not want.
2 cHe maketh me to lie down in †green pastures:
dHe leadeth me beside the †still waters.
eHe leadeth me in the paths of righteousness ffor his name’s sake.
4 Yea, ffthough I walk through the valley of gthe shadow of death,
hI will fear no evil: ifor thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 jThou preparest a table before me kin the presence of mine enemies:
Thou †lanointest my head with oil; my mcup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord †for ever.
