63 Who is this that cometh from Edom,
aWith dyed garments from bBozrah?
This that is †glorious in his apparel,
cTravelling in the greatness of his strength?
I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.
2 Wherefore dart thou red in thine apparel,
And thy garments like him that etreadeth in the winefat?
3 I have etrodden the winepress alone;
And of the people there was none with me:
For fI will tread them in mine anger,
And trample them in gmy fury;
And dtheir hblood shall be sprinkled upon my garments,
And I will stain all my raiment.
4 For ithe day of vengeance is in mine heart,
And the year of kmy redeemed is come.
5 lAnd I looked, and mthere was none to help;
And I wondered that there was none to uphold:
nTherefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me;
6 And I will tread down the people in mine anger,
And omake them drunk in gmy fury,
And I will bring down their hstrength to the earth.
7 I will pmention the lovingkindnesses of the Lord, and the praises of the Lord,
qAccording to all that the Lord hath bestowed on us,
And rthe great goodness toward the house of Israel,
Which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies,
And saccording to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.
8 For he said, Surely they are my people,
Children that will not lie:
So he was their Saviour.
9 tIn all their affliction he was afflicted,
And uthe angel of his presence saved them:
vIn his love and in his pity whe redeemed them;
And he bare them, and xcarried them all the days of old.
10 But ythey rebelled, and zvexed his holy Spirit:
Therefore ahe was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.
11 Then bhe remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying,
Where is che that brought them up out of the sea with the ||shepherd of dhis flock?
eWhere is he that put his holy Spirit within him?
12 That led them by the right hand of Moses fwith his glorious arm,
gDividing the water before them, hto make himself an everlasting name?
13 iThat led them through the deep,
kAs an horse iin the wilderness, that they should not stumble?
14 As a beast goeth down into the valley,
The Spirit of the Lord caused him to rest:
So didst thou lead thy people,
hTo make thyself a glorious name.
15 lLook down from heaven, and behold
mFrom the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory:
Where is thy zeal and thy strength,
||nThe sounding of thy bowels and of othy mercies toward me? are they prestrained?
16 qDoubtless thou art our father,
Though rAbraham be ignorant of us,
And Israel acknowledge us not:
Thou, O Lord, art our father, ||our sredeemer;
Thy name is from everlasting.
17 O Lord, why hast thou tmade us to err from thy ways,
And uhardened our heart from thy fear?
vReturn for thy servants’ sake,
wThe tribes of thine inheritance.
18 xThe people of thy holiness have possessed it but a little while:
yOur adversaries zhave trodden down thy sanctuary.
19 We are thine: thou never barest rule over them;
†They were not called by thy name.
64 Oh that thou wouldest arend the heavens, that thou wouldest acome down,
That bthe mountains might flow down at thy presence,
2 As when †the melting fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil,
To make thy name known to thine adversaries,
That the nations may tremble at thy presence!
3 When cthou didst terrible things which we looked not for,
aThou camest down, bthe mountains flowed down at thy presence.
4 For since the beginning of the world dmen have not heard, nor perceived by the ear,
Neither hath the eye ||seen, O God, beside thee,
eWhat he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.
5 Thou fmeetest him that rejoiceth and gworketh righteousness,
hThose that remember thee in ithy ways:
Behold, thou art wroth; for we have sinned:
kIn those is continuance, and we shall be saved.
6 But we are all as lan unclean thing,
And mall our righteousnesses are nas filthy rags;
And owe all pdo fade as a leaf;
And our iniquities, like the wind, have qtaken us away.
7 And there is none that rcalleth upon thy name,
That stirreth up himself to take hold of thee:
For sthou hast hid thy face from us,
And hast †consumed us, †because of our iniquities.
8 But now, O Lord, tthou art our father;
uWe are the clay, and vthou our potter;
And wwe all are the work of thy hand.
9 xBe not wroth very sore, O Lord,
yNeither remember iniquity for ever:
Behold, see, we beseech thee, zwe are all thy people.
10 aThy holy cities are a wilderness,
Zion is a wilderness, bJerusalem a desolation.
11 Our holy and our cbeautiful house,
Where our fathers praised thee,
dIs burned up with fire:
And all eour pleasant things are laid waste.
12 Wilt thou frefrain thyself for these things, O Lord?
65 aI am sought of them that asked not for me;
I am found of them that sought me not:
I said, Behold me, behold me,
Unto a nation that bwas not called by my name.
2 cI have spread out my hands all the day unto a drebellious people,
Which walketh in ea way that was not good, after ftheir own thoughts;
3 A people gthat provoketh me to anger continually hto my face;
That sacrificeth iin gardens, and burneth incense †upon kaltars of brick;
4 lWhich remain among the graves,
And lodge in the monuments,
mWhich eat swine’s flesh,
And ||nbroth of oabominable things is in their vessels;
5 pWhich say, Stand by thyself,
Come not near to me; for I am holier than thou.
These are a smoke in my ||nose,
qA fire that burneth all the day.
6 Behold, rit is written before me:
sI will not keep silence, but twill recompense,
Even recompense uinto their bosom,
7 vYour iniquities, and xthe iniquities of your fathers together, saith the Lord,
yWhich have burned incense upon the mountains,
zAnd blasphemed me upon the hills:
Therefore will I measure their former awork uinto their bosom.
bAs the cnew wine is found in the cluster,
And one saith, Destroy it not; for da blessing is in it:
So will I do efor umy servants’ sakes,
bThat I may not destroy them all.
9 And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob,
And fout of Judah gan inheritor of my mountains:
And mine helect shall ginherit it,
And my servants shall dwell there.
10 And iSharon shall be a fold of kflocks,
And lthe valley of Achor a place for kthe herds to lie down in,
For my people that have sought me.
11 But ye are they that mforsake the Lord,
That forget nmy holy mountain,
That prepare oa table for that ||ptroop,
And that furnish qthe drink offering unto that ||number.
12 Therefore rwill I number you to the sword,
And ye shall all bow down to the slaughter:
stBecause when I called, ye did not answer;
stWhen I spake, ye did not hear;
sBut did evil before mine eyes,
sAnd did choose that wherein I delighted not.
13 Therefore thus saith the Lord God,
Behold, uvmy servants shall eat, but ye shall be hungry:
Behold, my servants shall drink, but ye shall be thirsty:
Behold, uwmy servants xshall rejoice, but ye shall be ashamed:
14 Behold, my servants xshall sing yfor joy of heart,
But ye shall cry for sorrow of heart,
And zshall howl for †vexation of spirit.
15 And ye shall leave your name afor a curse unto bmy chosen:
For the Lord God shall slay thee,
And ccall his servants by danother name:
16 That he who blesseth himself in the earth eshall bless himself in fthe God of ftruth;
And he that sweareth in the earth gshall swear hby fthe God of truth;
Because ithe former troubles are forgotten,
And because they are hid from mine eyes.
17 For, behold, kI create enew heavens and a new earth:
And the former shall not be remembered, nor †come into mind.
18 But be ye glad and rejoice lfor ever in that which I create:
For, behold, mI create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy.
19 And nI will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people:
And othe voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.
20 There shall be no more thence an infant of days,
Nor an old man that hath not filled his days:
For pthe child shall die an hundred years old;
But qthe sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed.
21 And rthey shall build houses, and inhabit them;
And rsthey shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.
22 rThey shall not build, and danother inhabit;
rsThey shall not plant, and danother eat:
For tas the days of a tree are the days of my people,
And bmine elect †shall long enjoy uthe work of their hands.
23 vThey shall not labour in vain,
Nor wbring forth for xtrouble;
For ythey are the seed of the blessed of the Lord,
And their zoffspring with them.
24 And it shall come to pass, that abefore they call, I will answer;
And bwhile they are yet speaking, I will hear.
25 cThe wolf and the lamb shall feed dtogether,
And ethe lion shall eat straw like the bullock:
And fdust shall be the serpent’s meat.
gThey shall not hurt nor destroy in all hmy holy mountain, saith the Lord.
aThe heaven is my throne, and bthe earth is my footstool:
Where is the house that ye build unto me?
And where is the place of my rest?
2 For call those things hath mine hand made,
And all those things have been, saith the Lord:
But dto this man will I look,
Even to him that is poor and eof a contrite spirit,
And ftrembleth at my word.
3 gHe that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man;
He that sacrificeth a ||lamb, as if hhe cut off ia dog’s neck;
He that offereth an oblation, kas if he offered swine’s blood;
He that †burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol.
Yea, they have chosen ltheir own ways,
And their soul delighteth in their abominations.
4 I also will choose their ||mdelusions,
And will bring their fears upon them;
nBecause when I called, none did answer;
nWhen I spake, they did not hear:
nBut they did evil before mine eyes,
nAnd chose that in which I delighted not.
5 Hear the word of the Lord, ye that ftremble at his word;
Your brethren othat hated you,
That pcast you out for my name’s sake, said,
qLet the Lord be glorified:
But he rshall appear sto your joy, and they shall be ashamed.
6 A voice of tnoise from the city, a voice from the temple,
A voice of the Lord that rendereth recompence to his enemies.
7 Before she utravailed, she brought forth;
Before her upain came, she was delivered of a man child.
8 Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things?
Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day?
Or shall a nation be born at once?
For as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.
9 Shall I bring to the birth, and not ||cause to bring forth? saith the Lord:
Shall I cause to bring forth, and vshut wthe womb? saith thy God.
10 xRejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her:
yRejoice for joy with her, all ye zthat mourn for her:
11 That aye may suck, and be satisfied with athe breasts of her consolations;
That ye may milk out, and bbe delighted with the ||abundance of her glory.
Behold, I will extend cpeace to her like a river,
And dthe glory of the Gentiles elike a flowing stream:
Then ashall ye suck, fye shall be borne gupon her sides,
And hbe dandled upon iher knees.
13 kAs one whom his mother comforteth, so lwill I comfort you;
And ye shall be comforted kin Jerusalem.
14 And when ye see this, myour heart shall rejoice,
And nyour bones shall flourish olike an herb:
And the hand of the Lord shall be known toward his servants,
And his indignation toward his enemies.
15 For, behold, pthe Lord will come with fire,
And with qhis chariots rlike a whirlwind,
To render his anger swith fury,
And his rebuke with flames of fire.
16 For by fire and tby his sword will the Lord uplead with all flesh:
And vthe slain of the Lord wshall be many.
17 They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves xin the gardens
||Behind one tree yin the midst,
zEating swine’s flesh, and the abomination, and athe mouse,
Shall be bconsumed together, saith the Lord.
18 For I know their works and ctheir thoughts:
It shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues;
And dthey shall come, and see my glory.
19 And I will set ea sign among them,
And I will send fthose that escape of them unto the nations,
To gTarshish, hPul, and hLud, hthat draw the bow,
To iTubal, and iJavan, to kthe isles afar off,
That have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory;
And lthey shall declare my glory among the Gentiles.
20 And mthey shall bring nall your brethren ofor an offering unto the Lord out of all nations
pUpon horses, and in chariots, and in ||litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts,
To my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the Lord,
As the children of Israel bring an offering
In a clean vessel into the house of the Lord.
21 And I will also take of them for qpriests and for Levites, saith the Lord.
22 For as rthe new heavens and the new earth, which I will make,
Shall remain before me, saith the Lord,
So sshall your seed and your name remain.
23 tAnd it shall come to pass, that †tfrom one new moon to another,
And from one sabbath to another,
tuShall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord.
24 And they shall go forth, and look
Upon vthe carcases of the men that have transgressed against me:
For wxtheir worm shall not die,
Neither shall wtheir yfire be quenched;
And they shall be zan abhorring unto all flesh.
