4 I therefore, athe prisoner ||of the Lord, bbeseech you that ye cwalk worthy of the dvocation wherewith ye are called, 2 efWith all lowliness and fmeekness, fgwith longsuffering, hforbearing one another in love; 3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in ithe bond of peace. 4 There is kone body, and lone Spirit, even as mye are called in one nhope of your calling; 5 oOne Lord, pone faith, one baptism, 6 qOne God and Father of all, who is rabove all, and sthrough all, and in you all. 7 But tunto every one of us uis given grace waccording to the measure of the gift of Christ. 8 Wherefore he saith, xWhen he ascended up on high, yhe led ||captivity captive, and zgave gifts unto men. 9 a(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into bthe lower parts of the earth? 10 He that descended is the same also that cascended up dfar above all heavens, ethat he might ||ffill all things.) 11 And he gave some, gapostles; and some, ghprophets; and some, ievangelists; and some, kpastors and lteachers; 12 For the mperfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for nthe edifying of othe body of Christ: 13 Till we all come ||in the unity of the faith, and of pthe knowledge of the Son of God, unto qa perfect man, unto the measure of the ||stature of rthe fulness of Christ: 14 That we henceforth be no more schildren, ttossed to and fro, and ucarried about twith every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and wcunning craftiness, whereby they xlie in wait to deceive; 15 But ||speaking ythe truth in love, may zgrow up into him in all things, awhich is bthe head, even Christ: 16 bFrom whom the whole body zfitly joined together and bcompacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that cye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, din the vanity of their mind, 18 eHaving the understanding darkened, fbeing alienated from the life of God through gthe ignorance that is in them, because of the ||dblindness of their heart: 19 Who ggbeing past feeling hhave given themselves over unto ilasciviousness, to work all iuncleanness with greediness. 20 But ye have not so learned Christ; 21 If so be that jye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 That ye kput off lconcerning the former mconversation nthe old man, owhich is corrupt according to oothe deceitful lusts; 23 And pbe renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on qthe new man, which rafter God sis created in trighteousness and ||true tholiness.

25 Wherefore kputting away lying, uspeak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are wmembers one of another. 26 xBe ye angry, and sin not: ylet not zthe sun go down upon your wrath: 27 Neither agive place to the devil. 28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather blet him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, cthat he may have ||to give dto him that needeth. 29 eLet no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good ||fto the use of edifying, that it may minister ggrace unto the hearers. 30 And higrieve not hkthe holy Spirit of God, lwhereby ye are sealed unto the day of mredemption. 31 Let all nbitterness, and owrath, and oanger, and clamour, and opevil speaking, be put away from you, with all oqmalice: 32 And be ye rkind one to another, stenderhearted, rtforgiving one another, reven as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

5 aBe ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; 2 And bwalk in love, cas Christ also hath loved us, and dhath given himself for us ean offering and a sacrifice to God for fa sweetsmelling savour. 3 But ghfornication, and all guncleanness, or gcovetousness, let it not be once inamed among you, as becometh saints; 4 Neither kfilthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, lwhich are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. 5 For this ye know, that mno whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, nwho is an idolater, ohath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6 pLet no man deceive you with vain words: for qbecause of these things cometh rthe wrath of God upon sthe children of ||disobedience. 7 Be not ye therefore tpartakers with them. 8 For uye were ssometimes darkness, but wnow are ye light in the Lord: xwalk as ychildren of light: 9 (For zthe fruit of the Spirit is in all agoodness and righteousness and truth;) 10 bProving what is cacceptable unto the Lord. 11 And dhave no fellowship with the eunfruitful fworks of darkness, but rather greprove them. 12 For hit is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. 13 But all things that are ||reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever idoth make manifest is light. 14 Wherefore ||he saith, klAwake thou that sleepest, and marise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. 15 See then that nye walk ocircumspectly, not as fools, but nas wise, 16 pRedeeming qthe time, rbecause the days are evil. 17 Wherefore nbe ye not unwise, but understanding what sthe will of the Lord is. 18 And tbe not drunk with wine, wherein is uexcess; but vbe filled with the Spirit; 19 Speaking to yourselves win xpsalms and yhymns and spiritual yysongs, singing and zmaking melody in your heart to the Lord; 20 aGiving thanks always for all things unto bGod and the Father cin the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; 21 dSubmitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

22 eWives, fsubmit yourselves unto your own husbands, gas unto the Lord. 23 For hthe husband is the head of the wife, even as hiChrist is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of kthe body. 24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands lin every thing. 25 mHusbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and ngave himself for it; 26 That he might psanctify and pcleanse it owith the washing of water pby the word, 27 qThat he might present it to himself a glorious church, rnot having sspot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be tholy and without blemish. 28 So ought men to mlove their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but ttnourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: 30 For uwe are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 vFor this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they wtwo shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery: but xI speak xxconcerning Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so mylove his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she zreverence her husband.

6 aChildren, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2 bHonour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) 3 bThat it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. 4 And, cye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: dbut ebring them up in the nurture and fadmonition of the Lord.

5 gServants, be obedient to them that are your masters ggaccording to the flesh, hwith fear and trembling, giin singleness of your heart, iias unto Christ; 6 gNot with eyeservice, as jmenpleasers; but as kthe servants of Christ, doing lthe will of God from the heart; 7 mWith good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: 8 Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, nthe same shall he receive of the Lord, owhether he be bond or free. 9 And, pye masters, do the same things unto them, ||qforbearing threatening: knowing that ||kryour Master also is in heaven; sneither is there respect of persons with him.

10 Finally, my brethren, tbe strong in the Lord, and tin the power of his might. 11 uPut on vthe whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against wthe wiles of the devil. 12 For xwe wrestle not against †flesh and blood, but against yprincipalities, against ypowers, against zthe rulers of the darkness aof this world, against ||spiritual wickedness in ||high places. 13 bWherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in cthe evil day, and ||having done all, dto stand. 14 Stand therefore, ehaving your loins girt about with truth, and fhaving on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And gyour feet shod with the preparation of hthe gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking ithe shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the jfiery darts of kthe wicked. 17 And take fthe helmet of salvation, and lthe sword of the Spirit, which is mthe word of God: 18 nPraying always with all prayer and supplication oin the Spirit, and pwatching thereunto with all qperseverance and rsupplication for all saints; 19 And sfor me, that utterance may be given unto me, tthat I may open my mouth uboldly, to make known vthe mystery of the gospel, 20 For which I wam an ambassador ||xin bonds: that ||therein I umay speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

21 But ythat ye also may know my affairs, and how I do, zTychicus, a beloved brother and afaithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things: 22 Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that ye might know our affairs, and that aahe might comfort your hearts. 23 bPeace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 24 cGrace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ ||in dsincerity. Amen.
