2 Thou therefore, amy son, bbe strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things cthat thou hast heard of me ||among many witnesses, the same decommit thou to ffaithful men, who shall be gable to teach others also. 3 Thou therefore hendure hardness, as ia good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 No jman that warreth kentangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. 5 And lif a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not llcrowned, except he strive lawfully. 6 m||The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits. 7 Consider what I say; and mmthe Lord give thee understanding in all things. 8 Remember that Jesus Christ nof the seed of David nnwas raised from the dead oaccording to my gospel: 9 pWherein hI suffer trouble, as an evil doer, qeven unto bonds; but rthe word of God is not bound. 10 Therefore I endure all things sfor tthe elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain uthe salvation which is in Christ Jesus with veternal glory. 11 wIt is a faithful saying: For if xwe be dead with him, we shall also live with him: 12 yIf we suffer, we shall also zreign with him: aif we deny him, he also will deny us: 13 bIf we believe not, yet che abideth faithful: dhe cannot deny himself.
14 Of these things eput them in remembrance, fcharging them before the Lord that they gstrive not about words hto no profit, but to the isubverting of the hearers. 15 Study to shew thyself japproved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 16 But kshun lprofane and vain babblings: for they will mincrease unto more ungodliness. 17 And their word will eat as doth a ||canker: of whom is nHymenaeus and Philetus; 18 Who concerning the truth ohave erred, psaying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some. 19 Nevertheless qthe foundation of God standeth ||sure, qqhaving this seal, rThe Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ sdepart from iniquity. 20 But tin a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and uof earth; and vsome to honour, and some to dishonour. 21 If wa man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a xvessel unto honour, sanctified, and xmeet for the master’s use, and yprepared unto every zgood work. 22 aFlee also byouthful lusts: but afollow righteousness, afaith, acharity, cpeace, with dthem that call on the Lord eout of a pure heart. 23 But foolish and unlearned fquestions gavoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. 24 And hthe servant of the Lord must not strive; but be igentle unto all men, kapt to teach, ||lpatient, 25 mIn meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; nif God peradventure will give them repentance oto the acknowledging of the truth; 26 And that they may †recover themselves out pof the snare of the devil, who are †taken captive by him at his will.
3 This know also, that ain the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be blovers of their own selves, ccovetous, dboasters, deproud, fblasphemers, ddisobedient to parents, gunthankful, hunholy, 3 iWithout natural affection, itrucebreakers, ||false accusers, kincontinent, fierce, ldespisers of those that are good, 4 mTraitors, nheady, ohighminded, plovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 qHaving a rform of godliness, but sdenying the power thereof: tfrom such turn away. 6 For of this sort are they ttwhich creep into houses, and lead captive silly women uladen with sins, led away with udivers lusts, 7 Ever learning, and never able vto come to the knowledge of the truth. 8 Now was Jannes and Jambres xwithstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: ymen of corrupt minds, ||reprobate concerning the faith. 9 But they shall zproceed no further: for their afolly bshall be manifest unto all men, cas theirs also was. 10 But ||dthou hast fully known my edoctrine, fmanner of life, gpurpose, hfaith, longsuffering, hcharity, hpatience, 11 iPersecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at kAntioch, at lIconium, at mLystra; what ipersecutions I endured: but nout of them all the Lord odelivered me. 12 Yea, and pall that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and seducers shall qwax worse and worse, deceiving, and qqbeing deceived. 14 But rcontinue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 15 And that sfrom a child tthou hast known uthe holy vscriptures, wwhich are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 xAll scripture is given by inspiration of God, and yis profitable for ydoctrine, for zreproof, for acorrection, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That bthe man of God may be perfect, ||throughly furnished cunto all dgood works.
