14 “Therefore I am now going to allure her;

I will lead her into the wilderness

and speak tenderly to her.

15 There I will give her back her vineyards,

and will make the Valley of Achor a door of hope.

There she will respond as in the days of her youth,

as in the day she came up out of Egypt.

16 “In that day,” declares the Lord,

“you will call me ‘my husband’;

you will no longer call me ‘my master.’

17 I will remove the names of the Baals from her lips;

no longer will their names be invoked.

18 In that day I will make a covenant for them

with the beasts of the field, the birds in the sky

and the creatures that move along the ground.

Bow and sword and battle

I will abolish from the land,

so that all may lie down in safety.

19 I will betroth you to me forever;

I will betroth you in righteousness and justice,

in love and compassion.

14 Therefore, behold, I will allure her,

And bring her into the wilderness,

And speak comfortably unto her.

15 And I will give her her vineyards from thence,

And the valley of Achor for a door of hope:

And she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth,

And as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.

16 And it shall be at that day, saith the Lord, that thou shalt call me Ishi;

And shalt call me no more Baali.

17 For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth,

And they shall no more be remembered by their name.

18 And in that day will I make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field,

And with the fowls of heaven, and with the creeping things of the ground:

And I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the earth,

And will make them to lie down safely.

19 And I will betroth thee unto me for ever;

Yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment,

And in lovingkindness, and in mercies.

14 “But then I will win her back once again.

I will lead her into the desert

and speak tenderly to her there.

15 I will return her vineyards to her

and transform the Valley of Trouble into a gateway of hope.

She will give herself to me there,

as she did long ago when she was young,

when I freed her from her captivity in Egypt.

16 When that day comes,” says the Lord,

“you will call me ‘my husband’

instead of ‘my master.’

17 O Israel, I will wipe the many names of Baal from your lips,

and you will never mention them again.

18 On that day I will make a covenant

with all the wild animals and the birds of the sky

and the animals that scurry along the ground

so they will not harm you.

I will remove all weapons of war from the land,

all swords and bows,

so you can live unafraid

in peace and safety.

19 I will make you my wife forever,

showing you righteousness and justice,

unfailing love and compassion.

14 “Therefore, behold, I will allure her,

Will bring her into the wilderness,

And speak comfort to her.

15 I will give her her vineyards from there,

And the Valley of Achor as a door of hope;

She shall sing there,

As in the days of her youth,

As in the day when she came up from the land of Egypt.

16 “And it shall be, in that day,”

Says the Lord,

“That you will call Me ‘My Husband,’

And no longer call Me ‘My Master,’

17 For I will take from her mouth the names of the Baals,

And they shall be remembered by their name no more.

18 In that day I will make a covenant for them

With the beasts of the field,

With the birds of the air,

And with the creeping things of the ground.

Bow and sword of battle I will shatter from the earth,

To make them lie down safely.

19 “I will betroth you to Me forever;

Yes, I will betroth you to Me

In righteousness and justice,

In lovingkindness and mercy;

14 “So I am going to attract her;

I will lead her into the desert

and speak tenderly to her.

15 There I will give her back her vineyards,

and I will make the Valley of Trouble a door of hope.

There she will respond as when she was young,

as when she came out of Egypt.”

16 The Lord says, “In the future she will call me ‘my husband;’

no longer will she call me ‘my baal.’

17 I will never let her say the names of Baal again;

people won’t use their names anymore.

18 At that time I will make an agreement for them

with the wild animals, the birds, and the crawling things.

I will smash from the land

the bow and the sword and the weapons of war,

so my people will live in safety.

19 And I will make you my promised bride forever.

I will be good and fair;

I will show you my love and mercy.

14 Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably unto her. 15 And I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope; and she shall make answer there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt. 16 And it shall be at that day, saith Jehovah, that thou shalt call me Ishi, and shalt call me no more Baali. 17 For I will take away the names of the Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be mentioned by their name. 18 And in that day will I make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the birds of the heavens, and with the creeping things of the ground: and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the land, and will make them to lie down safely. 19 And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in justice, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies.

14 Therefore behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak to her heart. 15 And I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope; and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt. 16 And it shall be in that day, saith Jehovah, that thou shalt call me, My husband, and shalt call me no more, Baali; 17 for I will take away the names of the Baals out of her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name. 18 And I will make a covenant for them in that day with the beasts of the field, and with the fowl of the heavens, and the creeping things of the ground; and I will break bow and sword and battle out of the land; and I will make them to lie down safely. 19 And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; and I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in loving-kindness, and in mercies;

14 “That is why I’m going to win her back. 

I will lead her into the desert. 

I will speak tenderly to her. 

15 I will give her vineyards there. 

I will make the valley of Achor [Disaster] a door of hope. 

Then she will respond as she did when she was young, 

as she did when she came out of Egypt. 

16 “On that day she will call me her husband,” declares the Lord. 

“She will no longer call me her master.

17 I won’t allow her to say the names of other gods called Baal. 

She will never again call out their names. 

18 “On that day I will make an arrangement with the wild animals, 

the birds, and the animals that crawl on the ground. 

I will destroy all the bows, swords, and weapons of war, 

so people can live safely. 

19 “Israel, I will make you my wife forever. 

I will be honest and faithful to you. 

I will show you my love and compassion. 

14 Therefore, I am going to persuade her,

lead her to the wilderness,

and speak tenderly to her.

15 There I will give her vineyards back to her

and make the Valley of Achor

into a gateway of hope.

There she will respond as she did

in the days of her youth,

as in the day she came out of the land of Egypt.

16 In that day—

this is the Lord’s declaration—

you will call Me, “My husband,”

and no longer call Me, “My Baal.”

17 For I will remove the names of the Baals

from her mouth;

they will no longer be remembered by their names.

18 On that day I will make a covenant for them

with the wild animals, the birds of the sky,

and the creatures that crawl on the ground.

I will shatter bow, sword,

and weapons of war in the land

and will enable the people to rest securely.

19 I will take you to be My wife forever.

I will take you to be My wife in righteousness,

justice, love, and compassion.

14 Therefore, I will now allure her,

and bring her into the wilderness,

and speak tenderly to her.

15 From there I will give her her vineyards,

and make the Valley of Achor a door of hope.

There she shall respond as in the days of her youth,

as at the time when she came out of the land of Egypt.

16 On that day, says the Lord, you will call me, “My husband,” and no longer will you call me, “My Baal.” 17 For I will remove the names of the Baals from her mouth, and they shall be mentioned by name no more. 18 I will make for you a covenant on that day with the wild animals, the birds of the air, and the creeping things of the ground; and I will abolish the bow, the sword, and war from the land; and I will make you lie down in safety. 19 And I will take you for my wife forever; I will take you for my wife in righteousness and in justice, in steadfast love, and in mercy.

14 Therefore, Look! I am going to allure her

and bring her into the desert,

and I will speak tenderly to her.

15 From there I will give her

her vineyards,

and the Valley of Achor as a doorway of hope.

And there she will respond,

as in the days of her youth,

just as in the day of her coming out of

the land of Egypt.

16 And on that day—

a declaration of Yahweh—

you will call me, “My husband;”

you will no longer call me, “My Baal.”

17 I will remove the names

of the Baals from her mouth,

and they will no longer be mentioned by their name.

18 I will make a covenant for them on that day,

with the animals of the field,

with the birds of the heaven, and

with the creeping things of the ground;

the bow, the sword, and the war I will abolish from the land, and I will let them lie down in safety.

19 And I will take you as my wife forever;

I will take you as a wife for myself in righteousness and in justice,

in steadfast love and in mercy.

14 “So now I am going to draw her back to me.

I will lead her into the desert.

There I will speak tenderly to her.

15 I will give her back her vineyards.

I will make the Valley of Achor a door of hope for her.

Then she will love me, as she did when she was young.

She will love me just as she did

when she came up out of Egypt.

16 “A new day is coming,” announces the Lord.

“Israel will call me My Husband.

She will no longer call me My Master.

17 She will no longer speak about the gods

that are named after Baal.

She will not pray to them for help anymore.

18 At that time I will make a covenant

for the good of my people.

I will make it with the wild animals

and the birds of the air.

It will also be made with the creatures

that move on the ground.

I will remove bows and swords

and other weapons of war from the land.

Then my people can lie down in safety.

19 I will make Israel my own.

She will belong to me forever.

I will do to her what is right and fair.

I will love her tenderly.

14 “Therefore, behold, I will allure her,

Bring her into the wilderness

And speak kindly to her.

15 “Then I will give her her vineyards from there,

And the valley of Achor as a door of hope.

And she will sing there as in the days of her youth,

As in the day when she came up from the land of Egypt.

16 “It will come about in that day,” declares the Lord,

“That you will call Me Ishi

And will no longer call Me Baali.

17 “For I will remove the names of the Baals from her mouth,

So that they will be mentioned by their names no more.

18 “In that day I will also make a covenant for them

With the beasts of the field,

The birds of the sky

And the creeping things of the ground.

And I will abolish the bow, the sword and war from the land,

And will make them lie down in safety.

19 “I will betroth you to Me forever;

Yes, I will betroth you to Me in righteousness and in justice,

In lovingkindness and in compassion,
