Deuteronomy 29:4–9
4 But to this day gthe Lord has not given you a heart to understand or eyes to see or ears to hear. 5 hI have led you forty years in the wilderness. Your clothes have not worn out on you, and your sandals have not worn off your feet. 6 iYou have not eaten bread, and you have not drunk wine or strong drink, that you may know that I am the Lord your God. 7 And when you came to this place, jSihon the king of Heshbon and Og the king of Bashan came out against us to battle, but we defeated them. 8 We took their land and kgave it for an inheritance to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of the Manassites. 9 lTherefore keep the words of this covenant and do them, that you may prosper3 in all that you do.

4 But to this day the Lord has not given you a mind that understands or eyes that see or ears that hear. 5 Yet the Lord says, “During the forty years that I led you through the wilderness, your clothes did not wear out, nor did the sandals on your feet. 6 You ate no bread and drank no wine or other fermented drink. I did this so that you might know that I am the Lord your God.”
7 When you reached this place, Sihon king of Heshbon and Og king of Bashan came out to fight against us, but we defeated them. 8 We took their land and gave it as an inheritance to the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh.
9 Carefully follow the terms of this covenant, so that you may prosper in everything you do.

7 When we got here, Sihon and Og came out to fight against us. Sihon was the king of Heshbon. And Og was the king of Bashan. But we won the battle over them. 8 We took their land. We gave it to the tribes of Reuben and Gad and half of the tribe of Manasseh as their share.
9 Be careful to obey the terms of this covenant. Then you will have success in everything you do.
