1 Samuel 17:40–41
40 And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the ||brook, and put them in a shepherd’s †bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine. 41 And the Philistine came on and drew near unto David; and gthe man that bare the shield went before him.

40 Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine.
41 Meanwhile, the Philistine, with his shield bearer in front of him, kept coming closer to David.
